(Hong Kong, 20 October 2022) – China Risun Group Limited (“China Risun”, or the “Group”, stock code: 1907), a leading global integrated coke, coking chemicals and refined chemicals producer and supplier and relevant operation management services provider in China, announced that the No. 1 coke dry quenching ("CDQ") coke oven of the CDQ waste energy power generation project (the “Project”) in its Hohhot production base has been ignited, marking the beginning of testing and commissioning of the CDQ unit of the project and it is expected to officially start operation in mid-November. The CDQ unit is China Risun’s first single unit with processing capacity reaching 260 tonnes per hour, and the largest of its kind in the industry.
The CDQ waste energy power generation project in the Hohhot production base of China Risun is a key project in the city. It uses the waste heat from the CDQ unit to generate electricity for self-sufficient operation, supporting production of the three-million-tonne coking chemical and hydrogen production comprehensive utilization project in Phase II of the production base. Since construction of the project started, the Hohhot production base has overcome such difficulties and limitations as the impacts from COVID-19, labor shortage, tight material supply, and short construction time. Equipment including the CDQ coke oven and waste heat boiler system was smoothly installed, tested and passed inspection, laying a solid foundation for on time ignition of the No. 2 CDQ coke oven.
After the Project begins operation, red coke sensible heat could be effectively recycled, better quality coke could be produced and the proportion of CDQ would increase. For every tonne of CDQ produced, approximately a tonne of coke quenching water could be saved, and the selling price of coke could go up by RMB200 per ton. The Project also uses red coke sensible heat to produce steam for power generation, preventing discharge of wet coke quenching steam that contains dust and other substances into the atmosphere, reducing dust and volatile organic compound emissions. It can also recycle steam as thermal power for other processes of the circular economy industry chain in the industrial park, thus promises significant energy saving and environmental and economic benefits.
Looking ahead, the achievement that the No. 1 CDQ coke oven of the CDQ waste energy power generation project has been ignited will serve as a starting point for the production base to speed up construction of the No. 2 CDQ coke oven and ensure the entire Project to realize full operation and intended efficiency as soon as possible. It will help speed up industry upgrade in the industrial park and build state-grade green factories, and become an essential strength in contributing to establishing smart industrial bases for the circular economy with coal chemicals/new energy/new materials as constituents and in building a benchmark industrial park in Inner Mongolia as well as the country.
