(Hong Kong, 23 November 2022) – China Risun Group Limited (“China Risun”, or the “Group”, stock code: 1907), a leading global integrated coke, coking chemicals and refined chemicals producer and supplier and relevant operation management services provider in China, announced that the No. 1 coke dry quenching ("CDQ") coke oven of the 2×260t/h CDQ waste energy power generation project at its Hohhot production base (the "Project") was filled with the first tank of hot coke on 17 November, marking the CDQ unit’s entrance into the production stage. This is China Risun’s first CDQ unit with a processing capacity of 260t/h, and the largest of its kind in Inner Mongolia and the coking industry, representing a new breakthrough in the Group's CDQ business in Inner Mongolia.
This Project is a key project in Hohhot city. Since the start of the project’s construction, the Group's Hohhot production base has overcome many difficulties and limitations. It completed key stages such as civil construction, steel structure production and installation, equipment installation and commissioning, anti-corrosion, insulation and ignition of oven to finally put the coke into production, laying a solid foundation for the No. 2 CDQ unit to be put into production on schedule. This Project uses the waste heat from the CDQ unit to generate electricity for self-sufficient operation, supporting the production of coking chemical and hydrogen production comprehensive utilization projects with an annual output of three million tons in the production base.
The total investment of this Project amounted to RMB450 million. After it is put into operation, the annual electricity generation capacity will be up to 447 million units (calculated based on 8,280 annual operation hours of the power station with pure condensation), which means it can save 5.38 billion MJ a year, which is equivalent to 183,953.83 tons of standard coal, and the annual carbon dioxide emission reduction will be 600,000 tons. If a tree can absorb 18 kg of carbon dioxide each year, the Project’s energy saving is equivalent to planting 30 million trees. As one of China Risun’s key environmental protection and energy conservation projects, this Project responds to the national industrial policy and the energy conservation, emission reduction and comprehensive resource utilization policy, as it can greatly reduce the emission of pollutants such as dust, phenol and cyanogen from the CDQ processes, and can recover the heat that is originally turned into water vapor and released into the air for power generation for methanol, synthetic ammonia and other devices, thus saving energy and reducing emissions notably. This Project also represents the Hohhot production base’s practical action to realize an ecological civilization and to implement the carbon peaking requirements in the industrial sectors under the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's carbon peaking implementation plan.
Going forward, China Risun's Hohhot production base will accelerate the construction of the No. 2 CDQ coke oven of the Project to ensure that the entire Project will be put into operation and realize its full efficiency as soon as possible. This will also help to accelerate industry upgrading in the production base, and build a state-level green factory, a smart production base for the circular economy with coal chemicals, new energy and new materials as constituents, and a benchmark production base in Inner Mongolia and China.
